What is machining?


Machined parts are mechanical components processed and formed using various mechanical processing equipment, mainly referring to processing methods that do not undergo chemical reactions (or reactions are very small). Mechanical processing mainly includes two categories: manual processing and CNC processing.


Manual processing refers to the method of processing various materials through manual operation of mechanical equipment such as milling machines, lathes, drilling machines, and sawing machines by mechanical workers. Manual processing is suitable for small batch and simple part production.

Numerical control machining (CNC) refers to the use of CNC equipment by mechanical workers for machining, including machining centers, turning and milling centers, electric discharge wire cutting equipment, thread cutting machines, etc. CNC Machining processes workpieces in a continuous manner, suitable for large-scale and complex shaped parts.


Technical requirements for machining

1. Tolerance requirements

(1) The unmarked shape tolerance should comply with the requirements of GB1184-80.

(2) The allowable deviation for unmarked length dimensions is ± 0.5mm.

(3) The tolerance zone of castings is symmetrical to the basic size configuration of rough castings.

2. Requirements for machined parts

(1) Parts should be inspected and accepted according to the process, and can only be transferred to the next process after passing the previous process inspection.

(2) The processed parts are not allowed to have burrs.

(3) When placing precision machined parts, they should not be placed directly on the ground, and necessary support and protection measures should be taken. The machined surface shall not have defects such as rust or scratches that affect performance, lifespan, or appearance.

(4) The surface of rolling precision machining shall not have peeling phenomenon after rolling.

(5) After the final process heat treatment, the surface of the parts should not have oxide skin. The mating surface and tooth surface that have undergone precision machining should not be annealed

(6) The surface of the processed thread shall not have defects such as black skin, bumps, loose threads, and burrs.
